Critics have scored this as one of the top 5 Chambertin wines.
Critic tasting note: (2014 vintage) "Strong ruby, ochre reflections, subtle brightening on the edge. Herbal-spicy aromas, in the underlay dark berries and ripe cherries, less floral than mineral, develops better with every minute in the glass, then shows red-fruity nuances after ten minutes. Taut and complex on the palate, vivid, well-integrated tannins and acidity, fine salty terroir savouriness, pleasant fruit expression lends depth and length; an elegant, emphatically mineral Grand Cru that is still years away from its first drinking maturity, patience will undoubtedly pay off. (cellar 12/2023 - 2060)." - 98/100, Falstaff
Vineyard notes: "The grapes for this Chambertin Grand Cru come from three vineyards in the east-facing Chambertin appellation, and from a fourth vineyard, 'Larrey', a north-south parcel at the edge of the woods. The layout of this vineyard is such that it can only be cultivated using a horse and plough. The soil has a very high limestone content. At the top of the Clos it lies on Bathonien calcerous clay and halfway down on crinodial limestone and marl from the Bajocian age. The stones are spread out unevenly"
